At Alpacas from Eighth & Mud our focus is on continued improvement in our Canadian Alpaca bloodlines. While maintaining, fine fibre, crimp, density and that oh, so friendly personality of our Alpacas makes them memorable.

We feature a proud selection of top quality Alpaca, be it our Herdsire, females, yearlings and Crias. We offer complete hands-on training and excellent support to our clients. Our show results demonstrate that we are meeting our breeding program objectives.

Alpaca Fibers

Alpaca fleece is a lustrous and silky natural fiber. While similar to sheep's wool, it is warmer, not prickly, and having no lanolin makes it hypoallergenic. Without lanolin, it does not repel water. Physically, alpaca fiber is somewhat like hair, being very glossy. The preparing, carding, spinning, weaving and finishing process of alpaca is very similar to the process used for wool.

The fibres from Alpacas in themselves are an excellent product to work with and with the blend of Silk, Bamboo, Cashmere or Jute they provide the flexibility of an end product for the knitter and weaver.
